Professional training and experience

Dr. Jochen Schmidt attained a PhD in theoretical physics at the Max Planck Institute in Mainz and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Afterwards, he worked as a research associate at the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies.   

He has been active as a consultant for banks and insurance companies for 6 years. In addition to consulting in the areas of risk management and IT, he focuses on the development and implementation of quantitative models and methods. He is team leader for financial engineering and quantitative development.

Professional training and experience

Christian Schramm studied physics at the Technical University in Munich while also studying financial mathematics at schools such as the International Center for Financial Asset Management and Engineering in Geneva.

He has been active as a consultant for banks and insurance companies for over 10 years. During this time, he has become a specialist in the implementation and expansion of risk and trading systems and is responsible for this at Microstep AG.

Dr. Jürgen Schulze graduated with a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Southern California. Since 2001, Dr. Schulze has worked as an IT consultant in the banking sector at companies including Credit Suisse Financial Planning Solutions, the Credit Research Department at HypoVereinsbank and the Risk Controlling Department at Hypo Real Estate Bank International, among others. At the interface between the business side and IT, his strongest assets are his ability to understand the needs of the business side as well as the limits of the technical framework and his talent for finding suitable solutions.

Markus Höchtl is a qualified banker (IHK - Industrie und Handelskammer Akademie) and business economist (VWA - Verwaltungs- und Wirtschafts-Akademie) who has worked for more than 18 years in positions of responsibility at domestic and international investment banks.

He has been a partner at Microstep AG since 2008 and contributes his knowledge and extensive experience to consulting projects for banks, insurance companies, asset managers and corporates.

Tobias Krämer has gained a lot of experience over the past 6 years in the areas of risk management and quantitative analysis. Previously, he worked as Senior Analyst in the asset management area for Reimann Investors Advisory GmbH where he developed a quantitative investment process which was implemented for the proprietary macroeconomic valuation and risk models.

Werner Egeler is a specialist in strategic asset optimisation and asset allocation and is a board member at our subsidiary, Microstep Financial Markets AG. He has more than 25 years experience as a financial consultant.

Werner is a qualified banker, business economist and specialist in finance and accounting (VWA - Verwaltungs- und Wirtschafts-Akademie), certified management accountant (IHK - Industrie und Handelskammer Akademie) and since 1991, a lecturer on portfolio and capital market theory topics at the Vereinigung für Bankberufsbildung (vbb - training institute specializing in banking). 


Our subsidiary, Microstep Financial Markets AG, is responsible for the areas of asset structure analysis and strategic asset management.

Dr. Henryk Pinnow

Professional training and experience

Dr. Henryk Pinnow is a founding partner of Likron GmbH and as managing director, is responsible for portfolio optimisation, trading strategies and process automation. He began his career at the EON Sales & Trading Company as a specialist for the valuation of energy distribution contracts for top clients in the system portfolio management area. 

Afterwards, Dr. Pinnow moved to Nagler & Company Financial Industry Consulting, where he worked as a senior consultant for Unicredit Markets & Investment Banking where he later became a front office quant in the structured equities, commodities and funds area.

Dr. Pinnow has in-depth experience in quantitative analysis, trading and IT. He studied mathematics and physics in Berlin and Brussels and earned a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Essen in Germany.

As managing director, Dr. Roland Peetz is responsible for trading algorithms and automation. He comes from the trading floor at Unicredit Markets & Investment Banking, where he gained expertise in different fields as a senior trader of credit correlations and structured and linear credit products.

Dr. Peetz has been applying his many years of comprehensive, practical experience from the investment banking sector at Likron since 2012. He studied physics in Hamburg, Germany and Columbus, Ohio and earned a PhD at the University of Münster in Germany.


Our subsidiary, Likron GmbH, is responsible for the energy trading area.

Dr. Dominik Dersch

Dr. Dominik Dersch studied physics, earned a PhD in theoretical biophysics in Munich and completed a post-doctorate program in automatic speech recognition in Sydney, Australia. He has studied and done research at the TU (Technical University), LMU (Ludwig-Maximilians University) and the Max Plank Institute for Biochemistry and Extraterrestrial Physics in Munich.  

Dr. Dersch has more than 20 years of professional experience, of which more than 15 years have been in the financial sector in investment banking, asset management and the hedge fund and energy industries. 

In 2004, he became a certified professional risk manager (PRM) of the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA). From 2012-2014, he served on the board of PRMIA globally. Since 2004, he has been founding and acting director of the Munich PRMIA Chapter. In addition, Dominik is a managing partner at Microstep AG and managing director at Matobis AG.


Mohamed Agamia

Mohamed Agamia is a mechanical engineer and has over 12 years experience in the development of software for risk management systems, valuation of financial instruments and cash flow models for banks and insurance companies. Has has participated in numerous projects in the banking environment, e.g. the development of bank trading systems for bonds, credit default swaps and project financing. 

In addition to his work in the financial environment, Mohamed has worked for well-known service providers and educational institutions as a lecturer in the areas of CAD, database management, facility management, process visualisation and programming in C and C++.


Our subsidiary, Matobis AG, is responsible for the energy investments area.

Dr. Florian Wolf is co-founder and CEO of mergeflow AG. He is responsible for company strategy and analytic development at mergeflow. Before co-founding mergeflow, he worked in software development for operational risk management at institutional investors. He also worked as a research associate at the University of Cambridge (Department of Computer Science and Department of Genetics). Florian has a PhD in cognitive sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While at MIT, some of his work on information extraction was funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Together with Ted Gibson, Florian wrote a book about coherence in natural language, which was published by MIT Press.

Dr. Richard Sizmann is Chairman of the Board and Founder of Microstep AG and its subsidiaries. He is responsible for business development and fundamental decisions for these entities. During the last 10 years, Dr. Richard Sizmann has managed specialised projects in private and investment banking with a focus on portfolio optimisation, automated trading systems, pricing of interest rate derivatives as well as the financing of renewable energy sources. Dr. Richard Sizmann has a PhD in experimental physics from the Technical University (TU) in Munich.
